Error Prevention

Good

Modern car key fobs

My Chevy Equinox has an amazing system for making sure that I physically cannot lock my keyfob inside of my vehicle. I don't think I have tested every single possible scenario but trust me, I got close.

Bad

Retailix Storeline WinPOS (POS system by Publix, but is being phased out)

The point of sale system used by Publix requires you to enter a supervisor override code whenever you void more than $10 of items.
It also requires a supervisor override code whenever you need to log out with saved orders on the terminal (saved orders can be recalled on any register, this can be bypassed with no consequences). For some reason it does not require a supervisor override when you VOID PAYMENT METHODS.
Now this isn't a problem for payment methods like EBT, WIC, Gift cards. It is however a problem with credit and debit cards.
When you swipe your credit or debit card at the register, it completes the transaction with your bank and it becomes a pending purchase, where the funds are deducted from your account.
Now you might know the meme where, you can charge a bank card instantly, but a refund takes 5-7 days.
Unlike all the other forms of payment, voiding a bank card initiates a refund.
Anyway, I had an old woman come in with a senior discount card that functions essentailly as a debit card, but the funds expire at the end of the month.
She swipes her card, realizes she wants to change something, so I void the card tender, (this is the first time I am voiding a card, I do not know that it has actually charged the card), and when she goes to swipe again it declines. Her funds were going to expire the next day
I caused $50 of loss to Publix that day.

Ugly

Github Desktop

Github desktop makes a mistake

Unlike your projects, where git allows you to rollback to a working verion, Github desktop allows you to break your local repository and DOES NOT PROVIDE A WAY FOR YOU TO FIX IT. If you mess up something in your repository you have to use an external command line to fix it.

Additionally, it also just gives the error message from the command line. All of these seemingly defeat the purpose of using Github desktop.
